With Constant Hairballs

The Indoor Cat. An almost constant temperature and artificial lighting leads to regular hair loss in indoor cats.  Two thirds of this lost hair can be swallowed during the long and frequent grooming sessions.  It may become lodged in the digestive tract and form hairballs. Predisposition to hairballs is accentuated in so-called naturally "low-excretor" cats that have food-retaining pockets in their intestines and in semi and long-haired cats. Hairballs can lead to vomiting, constipation or; in more serious cases, even intestinal blockage.
